It is widely known that Britney Spears’ role in pop music has been impactful but many do not know that Spears influenced the heavy metal genre as well through her invention of guitar solos. Spears came up with the idea of guitar solos while recording in 1998 and decided to showcase this experimental sound on her debut album, …Baby One More Time, in her hit-single, (You Drive Me) Crazy (1999). Since the release of (You Drive Me) Crazy, guitar solos have made their way into songs by prominent metal bands such as Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, and Metallica.
Um… no. The first was used in 1940 in Ernest Tubb’s “Walking the floor over you” and guitar solos are commonplace in rock since the 60s. This was literally the easiest fact to check and I hope everyone who reblogged this believed it.
